Why Is It Important To Get Your

Heavy Duty Star Certified Smog Check

Getting a SMOG check is crucial for ensuring your vehicle meets California's stringent emissions standards, helping to reduce air pollution and protect public health.

It is mandatory during the initial registration of a vehicle in California, ensuring that all vehicles entering the state are compliant. Additionally, biennial inspections are required every two years for vehicles registered in specific areas, as part of the registration renewal process.

This system helps maintain consistent air quality standards across the state, contributing to a healthier environment for everyone.

Here Is What We Inspect When You Come In

Visual Inspection: Checks the presence and condition of emission control components. Ensures no unauthorized modifications have been made.

Visual Inspection: Checks the presence and condition of emission control components. Ensures no unauthorized modifications have been made.

Emissions Test: Measures pollutants coming out of the tailpipe using a dynamometer (for older vehicles) or through the OBD system (for newer vehicles).

How Our 3 - Step Certification Process Works

Pre-Check

Performing regular maintenance such as oil changes, air filter replacements, and tune-ups helps keep vehicle emissions in check, while ensuring the engine is warmed up and addressing any "Check Engine" light issues are crucial steps to prepare for a successful smog check

Check

The technician conducts visual, functional, and emissions tests during the smog check to evaluate the vehicle's compliance with emission standards. If your vehicle features an OBD system, the technician will retrieve and analyze diagnostic trouble codes to verify proper system operation and emission control functionality.

Post-Check

If your vehicle passes the smog check, the results will be electronically transmitted to the DMV, and you will receive a certificate of compliance; however, in case of failure, you will receive a Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) detailing the reasons and must complete repairs and a retest to achieve compliance.
